During World War II, a British aircraft is shot down and crashes in Nazi held territory. The Germans capture the only survivor, American Brigadier General George Carnaby (Robert Beatty), and take him to the nearest S.S. headquarters. Unknown to the Germans, the General has full knowledge of the D-Day operation. The British decide that the General must not be allowed to divulge any details of the Normandy landing at all costs, and order Major Jonathan Smith (Richard Burton) to lead a crack commando team to rescue him. Amongst the team is an American Ranger, Lieutenant Morris Schaffer (Clint Eastwood), who is puzzled by his inclusion in an all British operation. When one of the team dies after the parachute drop, Schaffer suspects that Smith's mission has a much more secret objective.

This period war-drama showcases the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi. The plot focuses on Havildar Ishar Singh who led a platoon of 21 Sikhs against an invading army of 10,000 Afghans to defend the North-West Frontier Province. The event is considered as one of the greatest last-stands in history.

In 1419 Sitamgarh, 3 couples are parted away due to an evil conspiracy. 600 hundred years later in 2019 in London, the couples's reincarnations meet again but this time each one of them is marrying the wrong person. Ramdas changes his name to Ronnie, befriends a girl named Julie, and grows up taking to crime as his career. He soon prospers and lets the villagers also prosper with him. Then when the Police Commissioner is shot dead, Ronnie helps the authorities to apprehend his killer, who is a young man named Shekhar, who is arrested, tried in Court, and sentenced to be hanged. Left in the care of an alcoholic Gangu Ganpat (Shreeram Lagoo), young Heera, who named himself after a stray dog, wrestles with life in his young age. Years later, now a young man (Amitabh Bachchan), he works for Mahendar Singh (Ranjeet) and is in love with Mohini (Zeenat Aman), who will not have anything to do with him due to his lack of ancestry. Heera is now determined to find out who his parents are, and the only one who can help him is the elusive, alcohol-induced and incoherent Gangu Ganpat.

Ram meets with Rekha and both are attracted to each other, and soon get married. Rekha is appalled at the way Ram leads his life, with everyone around petrified of him. She asks Ram to give up his criminal activities, and get a job. Ram agrees, but the question is will he keep to his promise or will he just pretend to be honest in front of Rekha. And on the other hand is Shera, a dacait with a good heart. Both Ram and Shera are rivals. When Shera hears of Ram attemtping to go straight, he decides to move in on Ram's territory, with results that will change their lives forever.

A police officer (Amitabh Bachchan) after the brutal murder of his family seeks some answers from life. Where he was suspended from duty, because of false story portrayed against him by traitors, when he decides to track down the killer of his family years ago, with the help of a street-wise knife sharpening girl (Jaya Bhaduri), and a Pathan (Pran). He was able to make out one of them as underworld don Teja and promise himself that he would not rest in peace until he takes revenge.

Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) father is brutally lynched by villagers after being framed by Kancha Cheena (Danny Denzongpa), and his family is forced to flee. The young Vijay vows revenge, and grows up protecting his sister and mother by becoming a gangster himself. Eventually he works his way up the ladder until he is face to face with the men who killed his father, but by this time he is little different from them, and his actions have put his family in the line of danger once more.
